12/31/06

A huge thanks goes out to everyone at Blakes last night! WE had lots of fun. And now, as a New Years treat--and since we dont have any more CD's to sell--we are releasing our entire album TODAY on the "songs" page of this site. Your welcome. Go ahead and download them all. Burn them onto your own bootleg Minkus CD and then make millions selling them to all your friends. Thats how WE all ended up so rich. Oh wait. Damn.

12/12/06

Minkus is not dead yet! Ok, so we all live in various corners of the globe and the shows are consequently not all that frequent. But as always, we're back for "JUST ONE MORE SHOW!" That's right, we're in town for the holidays--all of us this time, Doug included--and our buddy Scary Gary over at Kid Glove Entertainment has hooked us up again for a holiday show. We're going to be at Blakes on Telegraph, on a Saturday night, all-ages extravaganza! Make sure you make it down, because how often does the world get to see Minkus these days?
Rock out, with the cock out.

12/13/05

6/1/06

Holy cow, what?! Minkus is all back in town for summer and are making a triumphant return of it. Well, Doug still lives down in San Diego, but he's coming up here like a trooper. Rumor has it there may be some new material up our sleeves. Who knows though. The shows page will be updating in a couple days.!

12/13/05

New show added for winter break!

9/1/05

We are all going to be in the bay for Thanksgiving. So, we feel it would be stupid of us not to play a show. If you were clever, you'd be checking out the show page for details...

8/22/05

There have been many rumors going around that Minkus is breaking up. And I'm putting an end to that rumor right now. We are all still friends and still enjoy playing music together. However, every member (except josh) are all moving to different locations for school and work and such. So, shows are going to be few and far between at least until next summer. So that is the deal right now: Minkus is not "broken up" but on a hiatus because of the location of the band members. Note: there is possible talk of a Thanksgiving show possibility...

7/23/05

So, there was some big confusion concerning tonights show at iMusicast. Basically due to some misommunication, we didn't hear about the show until last night. Unfortunately, both Tim and Doug are out of town. So, tonight we will be putting on a super special show with some guest musicians and other such hijinks. It wont be like any other Minkus show ever, so come out and check out what we are going to pull out of the bag!

5/11/05

New show added with SUBURBAN LEGENDS!

4/24/05

I must say, we all had a awsome night at the Pheonix theatre in Petaluma. The kids out in that scene really know how to get funky. We cross our fingers to get more shows out in that venue (wink wink). So, we are pretty much just twiddling our fingers until summer. Rumor has it another recording project is in the works...

4/6/05

SO last weekend's show at the Verge was sweet. We finally have T-Shirts so those are finally on sale! Also, Suburban Legends rocked the house as usual. And we played with a fun band called The 88's, who like the gentlemen that they are got us a show out in Peteluma at the Pheonix theatre. Its going to be a lot of fun and if you want a shirt or a CD your going to HAVE to come. Check the shows page for details. Rock on.

3/15/05

New show added.

2/5/05

Hey there everyone. The show in San Refeal at the Verge went very well! There was some good dancing and good times had by all. We were glad to get out there becuase we hadn't before, and well, who doesn't like meeting new people. If you saw us there and liked us, talk to the guys that work at the Verge and try to get us back there. And of course, spread the word if you liked us. The CD sales help us out a lot. Well, shows are going to be tough until Tim gets home for UCLA for the summer. I believe we will start looking for a good amount of shows after the end of March or so. Who knows, though. Contact us if you have somewhere you want us to play. As always, you guys all rock.

12/28/04

Happy Holidays Minkus fans! I hope your break is as relaxing and entertaining as ours. We are taking full advantage of the free time. Josh and I are sitting down with some new material today, in fact. But we have been slackers about getting shows recently. I just added a new one for february at the Verge. Its out in San Rafeal, but you should still come because its going to be wicked awsome. We've played with a couple of the bands before and the new ones sound good on their websites. So, you just cant afford to miss it. Check out the shows page for details. Well, CD sales are going super good, we are almost through 300 copies! And thats only with one show. We are officially out of debt! But if you dont already have one, this show will be a perfect place for you to pick one up. Anywho, have a happy and skankin' good New Years and keep Minkus on your mind!

12/4/04

Whooee! The CD release show is over and what a show it was. We almost sold one-hundred CDs in that night alone! And Judgement Day's set was HELLA tight. If you didn't pick up a copy of their CD, I strongly suggest it. I have it playing in my car right now. A big thanks goes out to all the bands that played and especially to the fans that showed up, old and new. If you didn't happen to pick up a CD for some reason, I'm sure you're wondering, "How can I get a hold of the CD?!" Well, the easiest way for everyone is for you to come to a show and buy directly from us. That involves no work on our part. However, if you're so impatient and you feel you must have one now, then email us at band@minkusrocks.com and tell us and we'll work something out. We are still winding down from this last kickass show and Tim is back in LA for school, so our show lineup is a little slow to get organized. But keep looking at the shows page. I'm currently talking to bands and organizers to get some winter break shows going. Until then, have fun listening to the CD's and keep being beautiful!

11/12/04

I dont know about you, but I'm juiced for the CD RELEASE SHOW on the 26th (The friday after Thanksgiving)! I just sent all the artwork and final masters to the printers and now we await the product. We are going to be selling them for $8 each. Eight bucks for twelve tracks?! We must be joking! You just cant afford not to buy one. And seeing as this is our first full-length album, this is going to be a collector's item. So really it's an investment. And this CD is available only from us at this show, so you better be there! Plus, Judgement Day is releasing their new CD too, and from what i've heard its going to be spectacular. So come down to iMusicast on the 26th with your wallet or purse, becuase its time to buy two new, great CDs!

11/3/04

A great big thanks goes out to all of those who came out to see us at the HelL3, and anyone who happened to be there and had a good time. We were a little out of sorts with the whole accoustic stuff and Josh from Go On Red (thanks Josh!) drumming, but I think it was a success. But onward and outward to better things! I just got home from the final mixing session for our first full-length album, and everything is sounding so awsome. We are so excited for the CD release show on the 26th. Its going to be flippin' amazing. Oh, and in other news: here's to anther four years of repressive conservatism. Thanks America! You guys sure know how to vote! Oh, wait.

10/9/04

So, Tim is in LA and Josh is across the bay in SF. But that doesnt mean you wont be seeing their beautiful faces! Dont believe me? Check out the shows page, O yee of little faith. That's right, we are playing in October with the likes of the great Suburban Legends at the ghoulishly-themed L3 (The HelL3). However, Mr. Peter will be out of town for that weekend, so we are having a little fill-in drumming featuring Josh from Go On Red. But wiat, thats not all! We now have final confirmation for the CD RELEASE SHOW! It is going to be a rockin' dual release show with Judgement Day, so better bring down the 'ol piggy bank so you can be the first to grab both our fresh CDs. In conclusion: October 30th=dancing with minkus for halloween, November 26th=dancing with Minkus to get a the new CD, and you=sexy!

8/30/04

Whoo-eee, we had a whole lot of fun playing this Saturday at iMusicast! It had been so long since we had seen all of your beautiful faces. All the bands were awsome, too. It was nice to see a good collection of ska for a change. Horns rule! We'd like to thank everyone who stuck around and danced becuase you make us happy to be alive. Well, what does the future hold for Minkus, you aks? Well, Tim is moving down to LA for school on September 24th (which is also Cameron's birthday so get him a pony) so unless we can get our acts together for one more show before he leaves, Minkus will be on a short hiatus until November. What's in November, you ask? Well. the fabled CD release party will be going down! So you better get super juiced, becuase we know we are. Until then, keep posting on the message board and go and support all the other great local bands around here.

8/2/04

Ok, so you have all been very patient and cool for us while we work on this album. Its sounding awsome and we just have some last little logistics to work out before we can get it out to everyone. So becuase we got fed up with not playing, we now have ourselves a show before the fabled CD relase party. We are playing an all ska show at iMusicast on the 28th. Check the shows page for details, they are coming in constantly. We are planning to push the CD release back to Thanksgiving probably to have a dual release show with the awsome dudes in Judgement Day, but that's all just rumors right now...Until then, keep rockin' and hold in there for the CD. I know I am!

6/28/04

It's been a while since the last update so I thought I'd give you guys one. We are still working on this new CD. We have all but three of the songs recorded without horns. Everything is sounding awsome and we are already looking for cover art printing prices. We still dont have a date for the CD release show, but look for one around the end of July or early August. See you all later!

5/29/04

Last night's at Jesse's totally rocked. Everyone that came out and had a good time rules. I saw a lot of new faces which is exciting and am very happy that the cops didn't end up busting it, like I was sure they would. A very special thanks goes out to Jesse and his family for organizing and tolerating such a great event. We are really hoping that we can do more of those. Well, so Josh and Tim are graduating this weekend from high school. Wish them luck, those lucky bastards. The next month or so we are showless for the moment. We are trying take advantage of the little time we have before Tim moves to UCLA to record, so thats what we are up to. However, if you want to book us, we are still available for booking. Contact us at band@minkusrocks.com if you want us to play somewhere.

-----------------------------

5/27/04

Alright, so here's the reminder that we have that house party tomorrow. You should really go, because it wouldnt be a party without you. Also, if you signed our mailing list and are baffled by the fact that you haven't got any treats in your mailbox from us, email band@minkusrocks.com and say you want to be added. You see, I have to sit there and try to decrypt hundreds of emails in poor handwriting and enter them in by hand. So either I lost it from the list to the computer, entered it wrong, or just plain couldn't read your dirty handwriting. Regardless, email us the get added. ROCK!

-----------------------------

5/8/04

Thanks for everyone that came out last night at iMusicast. You guys all rocked and we had fun. Here's to people who skank [raises glass]. So we are working on some new recordings and as an act of good will, I am going to post a copy of California on our songs page so you can get a sneak peek. It may not be the final version, but its sounding pretty nice. Anton from Judgement Day, Audrye Sessions, and Rock and Roll Adventure Kids is being our engineer/producer for these recordings and we are having a lot of fun working with him. I suggest going to our links page and checking out some of his bands. He has a habit of being in really awsome bands. Also, we are playing at a free house party show at our friend Jesse's house (He plays in Midnight Passenger and Advanced Placement). They are setting up a stage and lights in Jesse's driveway and I think it's going to be a fun event. Rock!

-----------------------------

4/25/04

So most of Minkus went to see the Botticellis play at iMusicast this Saturday. It's official, the Botticellis are one of the bests bands out there. Check out our links page for thier site. I suggest downloading their songs. Also, I added Live Today to the songs page. Its from the old demo. Its nice.

-----------------------------

4/15/04

So we are working with Mr. Anton Patzner from Judgement Day on some new recordings. We have only really got down to starting California and The Right Door, and from what it sounds like, these are going to rock. We are aiming to release all this work near the start of summer. But who knows. Also, if you haven't checked the shows page in a while, we have finalized the info on the 7th. We might be playing a free show at some dorms at CAL to promote that show. Bryce from Go On Red is working that out as we speak. But you should come down for the 7th. I went and listened to the mp3s from Never Heard of It (www.neverheardofit.com) and I am super impressed. If you haven't heard them, i suggest you take a listen, becuase then you'll get super hyped for the show on the 7th like I am. ROCK!

-----------------------------

3/24/04

I added the Sunsets Forever music video on the songs page. Check it out!

-----------------------------

3/23/04

So, we had a great time at the 20th show! Definately one of our favorites so far. Everyone who was there and dancing wins over one thousand points. Well, we are stepping back from shows for a little to try to get started on this new recording project. We are talking with Go On Red about a show in may, but nothing finalized yet. Check shows page for details. Rock!

-----------------------------

3/7/04

I finally sat down and got us a real website! We are now hosting our own mp3s and no ads, and lots of glorious content. I think that I have all the bugs worked out in the page, but I'm not perfect. So, if you find any broken links or something you think looks stupid, post it on the message board or email me at cameron@minkusrocks.com.

-Cameron

3/5/04

We have straightened out the March show issues. Go check out our shows page for details. Kid Glove is letting us headline this show (a first for us) so you should come and prove that we are worth the headliner status. This is also working as a show-switch with Until Tomorrow, which means that we should be getting a show in napa soon...

-----------------------------

3/4/04

Hey there! Thanks to everyone who came and saw us at iMusicast in feb. We have had some plan fallouts in terms of shows, but we are working to get back on the stage soon. Probably sometime in later March, but we dont really know. Less shows does mean that we have more time to work on our next recording project. We are starting plans for a 10 song or so EP, that will probably be available near the start of summer. However, nothing ever goes to plan, so just check this page for updates. I am also working on moving us to our own domain name and getting off of tripod. But again, nothing ever goes as planned, so dont expect it happening too soon. We'll keep you posted.
Anywho, the reason I'm updating is to post some new pictures, curtosy of Maya and Joanna. So check 'em out. And I fixed some spelling errors, but probably made a whole lot more in this post. No one actually reads the news page though, so to hell with you all.

-----------------------------

1/10/04

Happy New Years! Well, we had a very productive winter break. We played a couple shows and finished our new demo. We have a show coming up with Kid Glove Entertainment on Valentine's Day at iMusicast (see shows page for details) and you can pick up a copy of the new demo when you're there. I'm a little late on posting this, but we had a great time at the Slackerboy show on the 3rd. We always love to play with Go On Red and we met Sneaky Long who we absolutely loved as a band and as people. If you hear that they are playing anywhere, go see them. Also, i changed some images on the site as well as added bios for the individual members (excluding Doug until I can get him to sit down and tell me some stuff). We really want some show pictures, too. So, if you took any spiffy pictures at any one of our shows, we would love to get copies of them. Email Cameron at the_eyedea@yahoo.com with pictures or links to pictures. We would really appreciate it.
Also, NEW MP3s UPLOADED!!! Rock!

-----------------------------

12/21/03

I changed a few of the pictures on the Images page. Email Cameron at the_eyedea@yahoo.com if you have picture of us and will let us put them on the site.

-----------------------------

12/20/03

There was an awesome turnout at the show last night. We were really excited to see a whole lot of people we had never seen out in the crowd, not to mention all of you that have seen us before. Well, now we are on to a lot of work. We are using this break to get our new demo atleast in a burnable copy by our next show, as well as Minkus T-Shirts. And we got confirmation on our show with Go On Red and Slackerboy Productcions at the metro on the 3rd of Jan. (check out our shows page for details). If you saw us, we love you, and if not, come to see us on the 3rd. or else....
Rock!

-----------------------------

11/27/03

We all had so much fun at the show last night! There was an amazing turn out and everyone looked like they had a good time. If you came out, you rock! If you didnt get to see us in action, we have another show just offered to us on December 19th at imusicast by Kid Glove Entertainment (see links page for link) playing with The Long Beach Dub Allstars (now called Long Beach Short Bus)!!! This show will be huge for us, so come and support! Tickets will be available on www.imusicast.com soon to buy in advance, because there is a chance that it could sell out. Check out our shows page for info as well as the Imusicast page and Kid Glove Entertainment page.
I added a links page and we should have the new demo and Minkus t-shirts by the 19th.
Rock!

-----------------------------

11/15/03

Yo fool. So due to some scheduling issues we are not playing at the battle of the bands in december, but do not fret! We still have a few shows coming up and we are working on some recordings that we will hopefully finish over Thanksgiving break. Check out the show page for info on our upcoming shows. Specific info about the shows are coming in daily, so check that page to get the latest info.
I also changed the songs on mp3.com. I added New Years Day by popular demand and we will also be playing New Years Day with a strings and doug on accoustic guitar at our upcoming show on the 26th.
We are looking for a street team for us to deal with show promotion. Especially for high schools. If you go to a school other than Bishop Odowd, email Cameron at the_eyedea@yahoo.com to recieve flyers and stuff to help us promote.
Rock!

-----------------------------

11/10/03

Hey there everyone! So this fall has been pretty slow for us. We've been really busy and have had some show problems, but that is behind us! There are some shows in the works for the winter and possbly even sooner. Keep an eye on this page and the shows page for confirmation on a few shows with the string metal band, Judgment Day (http://sringmetal.com or www.mp3.com/stringmetal) as well as a battle of the bands at SLIMS on dec. 14th. Hopefully a Slackerboy show with our buddies on Go On Red in early Jan. before they go back to school.
I also gave doug a last name and changed our main image on our mp3.com site (that should be updated by mp3.com in the next few days). If you are actually reading this news section, we owe you a prize and sexual favors. Rock!

-----------------------------

9/13/03

I added a picture of graham onto the images page.

We are working on the new demo now. Also, Minkus T-shirts should be ready soon. I have been talking with the guys at Slackerboy Productions, and since they are off at school now, we might be helping them keep shows going during the year. We are looking for bands to play for a late october show (?) and probably a show for november 29th (check out the Go On Red Site: http://goonred.tripod.com for more info). Definately will update this page and send out a mailing list email when those get finalized. Until then, rock!

-----------------------------
8/27/03

So I finally sat my lazy butt down and made ourselves a website. In other news, we are rehearsing for a new (and probably better) demo. This one will include our new horn section, Graham (trumpet) and Doug (trombone), as well as our sort of new drummer, Peter. We are thinking that it will include: Sunsets, Illin', LAF, and Big Poop. But that is still up for debate. Hopefull it will rock.

-Cameron
